The legal regulation of the obligation to pay alimony is under the jurisdiction of the Family Code of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the regulation of child support payments from those parents with whom the children do not live is carried out using Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 841 of July 18, 1996 (last revised on April 1, 2021). In particular, this Resolution indicates from which income alimony payments can be levied, and from which such deduction cannot be made.
