A citizen, as an addressee, has the opportunity to dispose of a letter, including a registered letter, even after it has been accepted by a Russian Post employee and even sent to the recipient. The success of the entire enterprise of returning the message depends on how quickly the sender comes to his senses. If the shipment has already fallen into the hands of the recipient, Russian Post will not be able to return the letter and you will have to negotiate with the recipient personally.

  • What to do to revoke a letter Contacting the department
  • Filling out the return form
  • Registration of return
  • Return deadlines
  • Cost of return mail service
  • In all other cases, it is possible to recall the message, however, the return time will vary depending on where the addressee found his letter, which will have to be returned.

In what cases may a feedback letter be necessary?

There can be a large number of reasons for recalling previously sent correspondence. The most common of them are:

    1. Incorrect address spelling.
    2. The letter contains information that is no longer relevant.
    3. The message was written in a state of strong emotional excitement.

An incorrectly specified address, as well as the full name of the recipient, may cause the disclosure of confidential information if another person receives such a document. But even if the message does not contain valuable information, the recipient will still not receive the message intended for him.

If the information in the letter itself is incorrect, you may also need to issue a return of the document. It is especially important to do this when the message contains information that will be used for the further preparation of legally significant documents.

An angry letter written in the hearts and sent by mail can cause the end of relationships between people. After the person calms down a little, he may give up the idea of causing psychological harm to the recipient of the correspondence and wish to return the document.

Thus, the return of correspondence, carried out on time, can preserve friendly, family or love relationships, and in other cases of incorrect sending, it can save important information and not mislead the addressee.

How can a person return a letter sent via Russian Post?

Despite the fact that computer technology has become an integral part of the life of every Russian citizen, many people still prefer to draw up letters manually. Such correspondence is placed in envelopes and delivered to the recipients in a traditional and well-known way. If people want to return their letters sent via Russian Post, they will have to incur costs for return shipping.

The sender's procedure for recalling a letter

If the sender is sure that the correspondence needs to be recalled, then there is no need to hesitate. Despite the low speed of postal services in Russia, it will take some time not only to fill out the application, but also to process and physically stop the movement of the letter.

An example of an application for revocation of a letter

If the application for withdrawal of correspondence is completed incorrectly, then valuable time will be lost and the return of the documentation may not be possible. In order to fill out a special form, you must visit the post office.

Important! Registration of a return document is possible only if you have an identity card, so you must take your passport with you when going to a Russian Post office.

The mail return form will require you to indicate:

    1. Full name of the addressee.
    2. The sender's exact address and phone number.
    3. Passport number and who issued it.
    4. Recipient details (full name, address, postal code).
    5. Indicate the reason for the return.
    6. Add date and signature.

If all the data was entered correctly, then post office employees are required to accept applications, but only after payment for the return service has been made. The cost of stopping the movement of a letter may vary significantly, depending on the region where the sender lives. For example, you can cancel the sending of correspondence in Moscow for 250 rubles, but in other areas such a service will cost only 50-60 rubles. After receiving the application for return of correspondence, the document will be processed accordingly, and the letter will be returned to the addressee as soon as possible.

If you need to return a registered letter back, then, in addition to a correctly completed application and providing an identification document, you will need to present a receipt for payment for the correspondence. For this reason, you should always save this type of document. You can also revoke a registered letter before the recipient receives it.

How to return a parcel that has already been sent?

It often happens that the goods need to be returned not only to the recipient, but also to the seller who sent the parcel. For example, when placing orders, an error may occur, and the buyer is sent either the wrong item or the wrong quantity, and sometimes the recipients are completely confused. Unfortunately, this problem is usually discovered after the order has been shipped.

The seller in this situation asks the question: what to do, how to recall the shipment?

The mail delivery service makes it possible to return a parcel. What do I need to do?

Deadlines for receiving a letter back

If you do not send any valuables or money in the letter, then the return time will not be of decisive importance. It is important to know the deadlines for completing such an application in order to ensure that the movement of correspondence was suspended on time.

If the letter is in the sorting station of the departure office, then its return will not take more than 3 days from the date of writing the application. Significantly more time will be spent on this procedure if the correspondence has already arrived at the Russian Post office in the locality where the addressee lives. In such cases, the return may take a minimum of 7 days and the maximum time may be around 1 month.

Summing up the results of working with Russian Post

Analyzing the regulations governing the issue of how to return a parcel by Russian Post, the following conclusions can be drawn.
The parcel is returned to the sender in the following cases:

    • if there is a statement from the sender;
    • if the recipient refused to receive the parcel;
    • when there is no recipient at a certain address;
    • The destination data cannot be read.

In addition, the recipient of the parcel may refuse to receive the parcel. To do this, he notes information about the refusal in the postal notice. In situations where the recipient does not want to provide the necessary information, a postal worker writes a note.

The recipient pays for postal services, and then demands a refund from the seller or sender.

In some cases it will not be possible to return a letter back

It will not be possible to receive your correspondence back if you submit an application late to the Russian Post office. If the correspondence has already been delivered to the addressee, then only he can return it to the sender.

If correspondence is lost during shipment, it will also be impossible to get it back. This particular case is a kind of “magic” solution to the problem when all return deadlines were missed and no valuables were included in the letter. If this is not the case, then you should contact the post office and submit a claim in writing.

Will I have to pay for return shipping?

When planning to recall a dispatch/parcel, a citizen must understand that all costs associated with delivering correspondence back will fall on his budget. The amount of costs in this case will be determined by the postal employee individually for each client. This is due to the fact that in the calculation process they will use the tariffs in force at that time, and also take into account related factors. As a rule, the amount of return of a registered letter/parcel is equal to the cost of sending. But in some cases it may actually be less.

How to speed up the email return process

Previously, it was indicated that a timely application to the Russian Post office with an application for the return of correspondence with an almost one hundred percent guarantee will allow you to receive the document back. Knowing some rules will significantly speed up the process, as well as receive up-to-date information about the movement of mail. For example, a return form can be filled out not only at the post office. The official website of the Russian Post provides the opportunity to fill out an electronic claim form for the return of correspondence. This document will also require you to indicate the sender’s passport details, his address and telephone number. The recipient's index and data are also filled out, as in the paper version of the form. The most important point in this method of filing a claim is the choice of the reason for the appeal. In the corresponding drop-down menu, select “Other”, and in the line that appears, indicate “Return letter”.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to completely process a letter return online. The site only allows you to fill out the form, after which the document can be downloaded to your computer and printed. If you come to the post office with an application already filled out, you can significantly speed up the process of filling out an application for recall of correspondence.

Before going to the post office, you should also check the opening hours of the post office. For example, if there is a long line, visiting a government office an hour before closing may not allow you to resolve the issue of a refund. If you postpone the resolution of the problem to the next day, you may no longer be able to receive a written message back, or the return process will take a longer period.

A letter, including registered and valuable ones, should be recalled only after making sure that such a procedure is necessary. In addition to losing money for shipping, a person will have to pay for the return service. If the correspondence has already been delivered to the final post office, it will need to be sent back, which also increases the risk of its loss or damage.

In what situations is it necessary to send the parcel back to the sender?

The need for a Russian Post parcel to be returned to the sender may arise in different situations, and the parcel does not necessarily undergo an opening procedure. That is, the reasons may be external, not related to the contents of the parcel, or based on unsatisfactory parameters of the received product:

    1. At the time of receipt of the shipment there is no money to pay.
    2. The buyer does not agree to pay high customs duties.
    3. The parcel is damaged or does not meet the stated parameters. For example, there is a discrepancy in the stated weight of the parcel. That is, it is important that the violation of the integrity of the packaging was not the fault of the recipient. In this case, postal employees are required to draw up a report.
    4. The contents of the shipment do not correspond to the stated order. This situation involves not so much an erroneous investment as a discrepancy with the position indicated on the site. For example, the product is not the same as in the photo or its appearance does not match the description provided on the online resource.
    5. The received copy turned out to be of inadequate quality.
    6. Defective goods.

According to the Federal Law “On the Protection of Consumer Rights”, it is allowed to return a postal item before it is received or after the parcel has been paid for by the customer according to the documents.

Actions upon receiving a letter from the bailiffs

If you receive a letter from the bailiffs and the debtor agrees with the amount of the debt, then it is best to pay it off within the time limits established by law or specified in the writ of execution. According to the law, the period for repayment is five days, unless otherwise specified in the writ of execution. If the debtor does not currently have the opportunity to pay the full amount (loan debts may be large, and the debtor may have lost his job, etc.), he can apply to the court with a request for installment payments/deferment of payments. The application should describe the situation and confirm, as far as possible, the circumstances that are difficult for repaying the loan. If the decision is positive, the debtor may receive a new order from the court with a different payment schedule.

If the obligations specified in the letter have been repaid, you need to contact the bailiff service from which the letter came, attaching documents confirming payment and obtain from them a decree to terminate the proceedings, which can be submitted to other authorities if necessary.

Recently, you may encounter fraudulent activities in which you receive a letter by email with the subject line indicating that it is from the bailiff service. In this case, you should not open it, as it may contain a virus. It is better to go to the service’s website and check your name in the electronic register of cases. There you can see the details of the bailiff responsible for your enforcement proceedings, if there is one. After this, you will have to contact the bailiff to find out the details if you did not receive them in full electronically on the website.
