Procedure for exchanging Russian Railways tickets purchased via the Internet

How to return a ticket online if it was purchased on Tutu.ru

  1. go to your Personal Account;
  2. select order;
  3. in your order, follow the link “Select tickets for return”;
  4. select the passenger whose ticket you want to return, or the “all tickets from order” item if you want to return tickets for all passengers;
  5. Click on the “Make a return” button.

If you have multiple tickets in one order, you can return them all together or just some of them.

When you cannot reissue a ticket

According to the rules, some itinerary receipts cannot be returned or exchanged:

  • Travel cards with no space (children 5 years old);
  • Electronic registration for an international route;
  • Travel documents purchased through other operators;
  • Tickets purchased using a bank card outside the country;
  • The itinerary receipt is issued for the 3rd person;
  • You cannot reissue a travel pass to change the carrier, for example: JSC FPK, TKS, Grand Service Express.

If your e-ticket has been lost, you just need to print out a new ticket and a receipt for your order will be sent by email. You can also get a printed electronic registration at the station ticket office. Upon presentation of your passport and order number, the cashier will issue a paper travel pass.

If a paper ticket is lost, it must be restored at the station; it cannot be exchanged or returned in the future.

How to return a ticket at the ticket office before the train departs

To return the ticket to the ticket office, the exact passenger for whom the ticket was issued must come forward. You can only return a ticket for another passenger with a completed power of attorney.

You can return your ticket at any station ticket office. If there is a separate return desk at the station, then it is better to go there. You must have with you:

  • identification document for which the ticket was issued (original passport and birth certificate for children);
  • a ticket on a form (if the ticket was purchased at the box office), or a boarding pass printed on a printer (or simply state the order number - these are the numbers at the beginning of the SMS about the purchase of the ticket).

If you paid by card, the money will be returned to your card within 30 days. If electronic registration has been completed and there is less than 1 hour left before the train departs from its starting station, then the ticket can only be returned upon claim.

Exchange for other places

You can choose another seat in the same carriage or change the class of service and travel in another, more comfortable compartment.

The procedure for reissuing travel documents is the same as in the case of changing the date.

Electronic check-in can be exchanged on the company website or at the ticket office if a regular ticket has been printed or a boarding pass has been received. If there are available seats, a passenger can change his stay on the train one day before the departure of the train.

If there is a need to change the itinerary receipt less than 24 hours before departure, station staff may offer a change of seats and class of service due to a lack of available seats.

Itinerary receipts cannot be exchanged for trains where the location is not indicated, for example, discount passes for children.

If two passes in a luxury class compartment are purchased on one ticket, then it will not be possible to change or return one reserved seat. Passengers will have to re-arrange the placement of all electronic check-ins for one compartment at a time.

In the compartment-meeting room of the Sapsan trains, you can only exchange all four seats at once; such passes cannot be returned separately.

How to return a ticket after the train has departed

If you miss the train, you cannot return your ticket online. You can only return your ticket to the Russian Railways ticket office. If there is a separate return desk at the station, then you need to go there.

Note:

After the train departs, you can return your ticket only at the station from which you were planning to leave (the boarding station).

Before the train departs from your station, the ticket can be returned at any station where the ticket office is connected to the ticket booking system. Today, the vast majority of cash desks are connected to the system. The list can be clarified on the website of JSC Russian Railways.

Features of return for trains within the Russian Federation:

  • 0-20 minutes after the train departs from your station - refund on claim;
  • 20 minutes - 3 hours - regular return (money will be returned to the card within up to 30 days);
  • 3 hours - 12 hours - return on claim.

How much will it cost to exchange a train ticket?

Unfortunately, you cannot do without financial losses - the service is provided for a fee. The passenger will have to pay a fee from Russian Railways to replace the ticket. If you paid a bank commission, it cannot be returned either.

It is not necessary to issue a ticket refund through the operator. The procedure can be carried out through the official website. To do this, you need to make a return and then choose a more suitable one. The funds spent on the purchase will be returned a few days later to the account from which the payment was made.

If a passenger finds himself in a situation where the train is about to depart, a refund occurs through a claim, which is filed at the railway ticket office. The operator will ask you to fill out a special form. As soon as the application is reviewed, the money will be transferred to the account.

When and where will the money be returned?

When paying and returning to Tutu.ru:

  • By bank card - money will be returned to it within up to 30 days.
  • gift certificate - a new gift certificate will be issued within 1 to 30 days, while the service fee for issuing a ticket return and fees established by Russian Railways are deducted from the nominal value of the gift certificate.
  • if part of the ticket price was paid with a gift certificate, and part with a bank card, the additional money will be returned to the card within up to 30 days, and the part paid with the certificate will be reimbursed with a new gift certificate. In this case, the fees established by JSC Russian Railways and the service fee for processing the return are deducted from the amount to be returned to the bank card. And the new gift certificate will be issued with the same nominal value that was spent on paying for the unused Electronic Ticket. If the amount to be returned to the bank card is not sufficient to deduct the fees, then the corresponding value is deducted from the nominal value of the gift certificate.

Deadlines for returning a ticket at the box office if the ticket has been paid for:

  • by bank card - the money will be returned to it within 30 days;
  • cash at the cash desk - get cash immediately.

Note:

Sometimes a ticket can only be returned upon claim. For example, after the train departs. Then the time frame for returning money to the card increases to 60 days. You will also need to write a statement at the box office. The cashier will help you register it. Cases when a ticket is returned due to a claim

Re-registration requirements

Route passes are exchanged:

  • The passenger chooses a different date or time of train departure, but the destination does not change;
  • An adult travels instead of a child. The exchange is made with an additional payment in accordance with the cost of the tariff;
  • The client plans to change the class of service;
  • The passenger wants to change the carriage or seat.

For this service, the company charges a commission fee of 144 rubles 70 kopecks. The commission is paid when any travel conditions change. Fees from partner services (railway ticket offices, travel agencies) are not taken into account.

Exchange is possible only at the station ticket office; if the ticket was purchased online, the passenger can only cancel electronic registration. Itinerary receipts purchased using bank cards cannot be exchanged. In this case, FPC offers to return the pass and purchase a new ticket. The limitation is due to the fact that the refund process takes a long period.

Re-issuance of tickets with other carriers (TCS, Grand Service Express) identical to Russian Railways. Paper tickets can be exchanged at the station ticket office, electronic tickets only upon request.

How much money will be returned when returning a ticket?

According to the rules of Russian Railways, the cost of a ticket consists of the cost of transportation (money for the fact that the train is traveling) and the cost of a reserved seat (money for the fact that you have a seat in the carriage). Their ratio varies greatly depending on the specific train. For example, on a branded train there are more reserved seats than on a non-branded train.

The following will be deducted from the ticket price upon return:

  • The fee of JSC Russian Railways from June 1, 2021 is 2 rubles 10 kopecks (from January 1, 2021 - 2 rubles 20 kopecks). For trains to non-CIS countries, the return fee is 10 euros at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
  • Tutu.ru service fee.
  • Online Return Fee. The fee is 3.5% of the cost of each ticket from the carrier, but not less than 20 rubles and not more than 500 rubles.

The remaining amount to be refunded depends on the time remaining before the train departs.

For trains numbering 7000 with provision of seats

These comfortable fast trains are also called “interregional express”. They run long distances between major cities (for example, Moscow - Vladimir). Tickets for them are sold: via the Internet, at long-distance train ticket offices, and at suburban ticket offices.

When returning, the carrier (one of the PPK - suburban passenger companies) withholds a fee of 50 rubles from the ticket price. The Tutu.ru service fee is also non-refundable.

For trains to foreign countries

Tickets to non-CIS countries (France, Finland, etc.) can only be returned at international ticket offices. Please call in advance to see if there are such ticket offices at your station. Addresses and telephone numbers of train stations in Russia

Features of returning a ticket with electronic registration. If there is less than 1 hour left before the train departs from the initial station of its route and at the same time more than 6 hours before the train departs from your station (local time), then the refund will be based on the claim.

For example, you bought a ticket from Minsk to Paris on train 023Y (Moscow - Paris). It departs from Moscow (the starting station of the train route) at 21:15. It is now 21:00, that is, there is less than 1 hour left before the train departs. The train leaves Minsk at 6:00, more than 6 hours left. Refunds will be made upon claim. When landing in Vyazma (departure at 0:11), you would no longer be able to return your ticket, since there are less than 6 hours left before the train departs from your station.

Ticket refund

The sooner you make a request, the more money you can get back. If we are not talking about force majeure and you understand in advance that you will not be able to go on a trip, immediately contact Russian Railways, in this case you will lose a minimum amount of money and will not pay a “fine” (that is, you will not lose part of the amount).

The cost of each ticket consists of two parts:

  • “Ticket” (you pay for using the railway infrastructure).
  • “Reserved seat” (you pay for using the carriage).

How to return a ticket if you are outside of Russia

1. Contact the ticket office in the country where you are located. Present the ticket on the form of JSC Russian Railways ( received in advance on the territory of the Russian Federation

) and the identification document specified in the order. The cashier will issue a form with a note indicating the cancellation of the ticket.

2. Contact the return office of JSC Russian Railways in Russia within 6 months after the departure of the train. Please present the ticket cancellation form you received, your paper ticket and your passport.

If you are outside Russia, then the procedure for returning a ticket is the same, no matter whether the train is traveling abroad or in Russia. If you want to return a ticket within Russia, then this can only be done in the CIS and Baltic countries (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia).

Before the train departs from your station, you can put a mark on your ticket at all ticket offices in any country. After departure - only at your boarding station.

Note:

If you bought a ticket for an international train at a ticket office abroad, then you will need to apply for a refund to the same ticket office.

E-tickets. Rules.

In accordance with the Resolution of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus dated September 27, 2016 N 29 “On tariffs for the transportation of passengers, luggage and cargo luggage by public railway transport on urban, regional and interregional lines”:

18. Payment for the transportation of small domestic animals and birds in carriages with unnumbered seats by public railway transport on urban and regional lines, including in carriages on regional economy class lines, is charged for each seat in the amount of 50 percent of the cost of the full travel document (ticket) to the passenger's destination.

The fee for transportation of small pets and birds in carriages with numbered seats by public railway transport on regional business class lines or interregional lines (except for sleeping cars) is charged for each seat as for 20 kg of baggage weight.

19. The fee for transporting large breed dogs (height at withers more than 50 cm), including service dogs (hereinafter referred to as large breed dogs), in baggage cars is charged for each dog as for 20 kg of baggage weight.

Payment for transportation of large breed dogs in a separate compartment of a compartment car by public railway transport on regional business class lines or interregional lines is charged based on the cost of full travel documents (tickets) for all compartment seats and an additional fee for each dog as for 20 kg of baggage weight.

The fee for transporting large breed dogs in train vestibules (if any) or specially designated places determined by the carrier, public railway transport on city lines and regional economy class lines is charged for each dog in the amount of 50 percent of the cost of the full travel document (ticket) to the point passenger's destination.

In accordance with the Rules for the transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo luggage by public railway transport, approved by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated July 17, 2015 No. 609:

97. A passenger may transport no more than two small domestic animals or birds in all carriages (except for sleeping carriages and luxury carriages) if he/she has veterinary documents - a veterinary certificate or a veterinary certificate (hereinafter referred to as veterinary documents), the forms of which are established by law, with payment in in accordance with the law.

A guide dog accompanying a visually impaired person is transported free of charge without registration of transportation documents in all types and classes of carriages. The guide dog must have a collar and muzzle and be located at the feet of the passenger whom it is accompanying.

99. It is not allowed to transport wild animals.

100. Transportation of large breed dogs (height at the withers more than 50 centimeters), including service dogs, upon presentation of veterinary documents and with payment in accordance with the law, is carried out in muzzles and with a leash:

  • in baggage cars;
  • in a separate compartment of a compartment car (no more than two dogs) with payment for all seats not occupied by passengers accompanying dogs, at the cost of full travel documents (tickets). These travel documents (tickets) are marked with o;
  • in vestibules (if any) or in specially designated places determined by the carrier, trains of regional economy class lines and city lines (no more than one dog) under the supervision of an accompanying passenger.

A passenger transporting large breed dogs (height at the withers more than 50 centimeters) must be over 16 years old, and if the dog is a potentially dangerous breed, then an adult.

"Note:

The Belarusian Railways has established the following conditions and places for transporting large breed dogs (height at withers more than 50 centimeters) on trains:

— regional economy class lines no more than one dog in the vestibule of the car;

— in the salons of the head and tail cars of the train, if there are areas for the transportation of large hand luggage and bicycles, no more than one dog per area;

- city lines - in carriage No. 3 on the area for placing large hand luggage (from the toilet along the side seats), no more than one dog per carriage."

101. Transportation of more than two dogs of large breeds (height at the withers more than 50 centimeters) is allowed only upon preliminary applications submitted to the carrier by an individual

or by a legal entity initiating transportation, in separate cars on a rental basis.

102. Responsibility for compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements when transporting small domestic animals and birds rests with the passenger accompanying them.

103. The passenger is obliged to compensate for all losses that arise due to his violation of the rules for transporting small pets and birds.

How to return a ticket if you are sick

If you get sick and are unable to travel, you can only return your tickets at the ticket office at your station (and not at any other). If there is a separate return desk at the station, then you need to go there. Must be presented:

  • document whose details were indicated in the order (original passport and birth certificate for children);
  • ticket on the form (if the ticket is without electronic registration) or order number (if the ticket is with electronic registration);
  • documents confirming the fact of illness - a certificate from the hospital or sick leave.

You will also need to fill out an application at the cashier (the form will be issued by the cashier). If you paid for the ticket with a bank card, the money will be returned to it.

See above for the refund procedure for tickets abroad. In case of illness, a certificate from the hospital is added to the documents that must be presented at the ticket office of Russian Railways. The certificate must be issued in the country from which you are departing, and not in Russia. Check with the carrier (JSC FPC) for details.

Note:

The only reason for returning due to illness is a certificate from the hospital or a sick leave certificate.

If an accident occurs, an accident, etc., and you do not have a certificate from the hospital, then you can file a claim with the carrier within 6 months from the departure of the train. The total refund period consists of the time for consideration of the application (in Russia up to 30 days) and the refund period (7-30 days).

Possible reasons for exchanging a ticket

You can exchange a train ticket in several cases:

  • The destination remains the same. But the departure date and time change;
  • An adult is required in lieu of a child ticket;
  • Need to change class of service;
  • The passenger wishes to travel in a different seat on the same flight.

Regardless of the reason for the exchange, in 2021 the ticket holder will be charged a commission of 203 rubles 50 kopecks. This tariff applies to any changes made to the parameters of the itinerary receipt, regardless of their type (electronic or paper).

If you bought a ticket through an intermediary company, an additional transaction fee may be assigned to the amount of the standard commission when exchanging through the same company.

To exchange a ticket for a Russian Railways train, you will have to visit the ticket office at the station. Tickets cannot be exchanged online. However, if you do not have time for the offline procedure, you can return your e-ticket on the website and purchase a new one.

Difficulty arises when paying for a travel pass with a bank card. It is impossible to exchange such documents, since changes are not allowed in the receipt, and transfers to the account take a lot of time, which may not be enough before departure.

How to return a ticket for another passenger

This can only be done at the checkout. According to the rules, you must have:

  • Ticket on a form or boarding pass (or tell the cashier the 14-digit order number - these are the numbers at the beginning of the SMS about purchasing a ticket).
  • The original of your passport (a photocopy, even certified by a notary, is not accepted).
  • Power of attorney to return the ticket (and to receive money if the ticket was paid for in cash).

The power of attorney must be handwritten. Prepare and sign it in advance

. The power of attorney must indicate the passport details of the principal and the person being trusted, the subject of the power of attorney (“to issue a refund of railway ticket No. ..."), signatures and date.

How to change a Russian Railways ticket for another date

The procedure is possible if two basic conditions are met:

  • The purchase was made through the station ticket office;
  • The ticket was paid in cash.

To exchange, you need to go to the railway station payment point and present your passport and paper ticket for exchange. The employee will print out an application form where you will need to indicate the desired date of travel.

After signing the application, the old ticket is returned and a new one is received for the desired date, provided that there are available seats. Returned travel tickets cannot be restored, since they are returned for sale within 4-5 hours after the exchange procedure has been completed.

How to exchange a ticket

Refund of a ticket purchased on the Tutu website

In addition to the Russian Railways website, tickets are also sold on other platforms; one of the most popular is Tutu.ru. The refund mechanism is as follows:

Sequence of actions when returning a ticket via the Internet

  1. Register in your “Personal Account”.
  2. Enter the “Order” option.
  3. Within this option, select “Return Tickets.”
  4. Select a specific ticket for a specific name or all orders.
  5. Click the “Make a return” button.

After all actions have been completed correctly, the money, depending on where the return path is indicated, will come:

  • To a bank card within seven to 30 days.
  • On Webmoney, Yandex. Money, PayPal, the time for crediting funds is from 10 to 60 days. In this case, we will charge a commission, which is determined independently in each payment transfer system. Usually it is in the range of 5–10%.
  • You can receive cash immediately.

How much does a passenger who decides to return his train ticket lose? It depends on the time before departure:

  • For two hours or more, the entire ticket price is refunded, excluding fees, if applicable.
  • Less than two hours - you can get 50% of the cost.
  • After two hours, the money cannot be returned.

If a passenger travels by train on domestic flights in foreign countries, he will have to contact the ticket office where he bought the ticket. Or - to the sites where he ordered it. But in principle, the return procedure will be the same as in Russia.

How to return a non-refundable train ticket

In most cases, it is not possible to get a refund for an unused non-refundable ticket. Only the cost of paid bed linen and Russian Railways services (carriage of animals, additional luggage, insurance; ordered meals that were not included in the ticket price) will be refunded. The easiest way to request a refund for bed linen and Russian Railways services is on the Tutu.ru website or app. To do this, go to the “Orders” section in your personal account, select the desired ticket and click the “Make a return” button.

At the same time, you will be charged a Russian Railways fee for processing the return (from January 1, 2021, 2 rubles 20 kopecks). The fee is not charged if its amount is less than or equal to the cost of paid bed linen and Russian Railways services. Also, the payment system commission, Tutu.ru service fee, and the fee for processing an online return are not refunded. If you wish, you can also return your train ticket at the Russian Railways ticket office.

If there are errors on the ticket

A ticket is an important document, and when receiving it, you must ensure that the information is correct. But if there are errors on the ticket, you should know:
