Length of stay of a migrant in Russia
According to the changes introduced by the Federal Law on the extension of the period of registration of foreign citizens No. 86 of 2010, the period of temporary stay on the territory of our state is directly dependent on the duration of the visa. The exception is situations when a foreign representative came to Russia without a visa document. In this case, the duration of stay is as follows.
- maximum 90 days;
- during the validity of the work permit, if the foreigner is a specialist.
The Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, as well as a number of decrees of the Government of the Russian Federation, regulate the grounds and procedure for increasing a short stay in Russia.
What are the responsibilities?
According to the law, representatives of a foreign state personally bear obligations for violating the terms of stay on the territory of Russia, as well as if fictitious registration of a foreign citizen is revealed. According to Art. 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, a number of sanctions follow.

- the migrant went to study in a region of Russia;
- the person has a seriously ill relative who is a representative of our country;
- the visa validity period was extended;

For refugees or temporary migrants
Based on the rules of residence of foreigners on the territory of the Russian Federation, a refugee certificate is valid for a limited time, which is three years. Algorithm of actions
The procedure for increasing the period of residence of a foreigner in Russia is quite simple: documents are collected, an application is filled out, and then the entire package of papers is submitted at the place of request. One of the main elements of the legal procedure is the collection of information. They are the starting point for checking the existing grounds for increasing the period of residence of a foreigner on the territory of our state. Below is a list of documents for renewal of registration.
- ID card, as well as its copy;
- migrant card;
- part of the temporary residence notice issued upon entry;
- completed application;
- confirmation for renewal.
The following may serve as evidence of the need to extend the period of residence of a foreigner:
- working agreement;
- patent;
- a letter from the organization’s management expressing their desire to continue cooperation;
- confirmation of specialist status;
- certificate of study at a university;
- proof of registration of the temporary residence permit.
The package of documents can be submitted personally by a foreign person or a representative of the receiving party (the head of the organization or the owner of the apartment where the visitor is staying).

The legal norms of the Russian Federation allow representatives of foreign countries to live, work and study on the territory of our state. Terms and cost of registration
According to the internal regulations, the deadline for renewing the registration of a foreign citizen and considering the application is 3 working days. During this time, the relevance of the information provided, its reliability and usefulness are checked. If there are errors, the applicant receives a refusal, the reasoning part of which indicates the reason for the negative response. Features of patent registration renewal in 2021

Reasons for refusal
Situations cannot be ruled out when employees of the Main Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia may refuse applicants. Among the main reasons are:
- shortcomings in the provision of documents - the information is incorrect, not all documents are available;
- the application was sent with errors;
- false or incorrect information about yourself;
- the identity certificate is no longer valid;
- violation of the rules of stay in our state;
- housing where temporary registration is issued is seized or mortgaged;
- the applicant lied about the grounds for extending his stay in the country;
- the citizen was fired or expelled from the university.
The presence of at least one of the above grounds entails a refusal of the application and a requirement to leave the territory of Russia in accordance with the rules.
