The presumption of innocence is one of the most important principles of criminal justice. Thanks to the presumption of innocence, any citizen cannot be accused of committing a crime without sufficient grounds - his involvement in criminal acts must first be proven.

Presumption of guilt is a term from civil proceedings. Unlike criminal law, in civil law guilt is considered established unless the defendant proves otherwise.
