Should one or both spouses pay?

In the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, Article 333.26 states that the fee must be paid for the entire event, that is, for the wedding itself and for receiving a completed marriage certificate. Moreover, this article does not say that the bride and groom must pay.

From this we can conclude that only one of the newlyweds must pay. So you can be 100% sure that only one receipt is needed.

If the registry office forces you to bring 2 receipts, then write a written complaint addressed to the head of the central registry office of your city, and also take the complaint to the prosecutor's office so that they can investigate.

But, for example, for the dissolution of a marriage, a fee is already taken from each of the spouses, this is stated in the same article, in subparagraph 1.

If one or both spouses are participants, disabled people or WWII veterans, then marriage registration will be free for them. Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory and heroes of the Russian Federation are also exempt from payment. Clause 4 of Article 333.40 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation clearly states that it is impossible to return money for the state fee for registering a marriage. But there are situations when you paid more than necessary, for example, 500 rubles instead of 350 rubles. And now you can try to return these overpaid 150 rubles. Just remember that you only have 3 years from the date of payment to do this.

Is it necessary to withdraw an application if you change your mind about registering a relationship?
