How is the period of detention in a pre-trial detention center calculated correctly during a criminal trial?

The concept of “stage” is a popular name for the movement of arrested persons between places of detention. It dates back to pre-revolutionary times, when convicts were driven on foot to places of hard labor and exile.

Now convoying is the delivery of a convicted person from a pre-trial detention center to the place where he is serving his sentence. This process can take a very long time—it may take several months to travel through Russia.

What stages does the prisoner go through?
1. Pre-trial detention center

It all starts when the court verdict comes into force.

The prisoner receives a written notification about this - from this moment on, you need to be ready to be sent to the stage.

The dispatch time will not be announced in advance. Just before the prisoner is sent to the cell, a prison officer will come to the cell and give him some time to get ready.

You are allowed to take up to 50 kg of things and food with you during the stage. If you have large, heavy items (for example, a TV), they can be left in a special warehouse at the pre-trial detention center. Relatives can then pick them up.

According to the rules, after the sentence comes into force and before being sent to prison, the convicted person is granted one short-term visit with a relative. Also, before sending, the administration of the pre-trial detention center must notify one of the relatives of the prisoner about which correctional institution he will be sent to.
